To provide a platform to amplify the perinatal experiences of Black women of African descent in Birmingham.
To highlight the stories behind the statistics of why Black women are four times more likely to die during pregnancy, childbirth and in the postnatal period.
To raise awareness around positive Perinatal Mental Health & Wellbeing.
To co-create better services with Maternity Transformation partners that keep women of colour and their babies safe throughout the perinatal journey.
Maternity Engagement Action (MEA) aims to provide solutions around limited perinatal engagement with Black and Brown women and their families through engagement, connection, leadership and research
To connect the lived experiences of Black and Brown women to Maternity Transformation Boards, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Hospital Trusts, Maternity Voices Partnerships and National Maternity Voices. We welcome dialogue, collaboration and co-production opportunities.
